Volunteers sought for Drogheda Tidy Towns Boyne River Clean up

Front Page

Drogheda Tidy Towns are holding their annual Boyne River Clean up on Sunday April 6th this year and are looking for volunteers to lend a hand. This was a hugely successful event last year with close to 65 volunteers turning out to help.

A huge amount of rubbish was collected on the day from along the Boyne riverbank stretching from Dominic’s Park all the way to Oldbridge.

It included all the normal litter items one would expect such as bottles, coffee cups and general rubbish but they also found wellingtons, shopping trolleys, bikes, fridges and even a children’s slide!

It made an enormous positive difference to the presentation of this walking and recreation route when the rubbish was removed.

“We are thrilled to once again welcome our friends from the Boyne Fisherman’s Rescue and Recovery Service, along with members of Drogheda and District AC. Their invaluable partnership and unwavering support play a vital role in the success of this event” said Drogheda Tidy Towns Chairperson, Gerry Leydon.

“This year we have changed the meet up point to the northwest corner of Dominic’s Park. We plan to extend the area of our clean up to include Dominic’s Park and the Boyne Riverbank all the way east to Haymarket Bridge and to Mary McAleese Boyne Valley Bridge towards the west side.

"We would appreciate as much help as possible on the day, everyone is welcome. We will meet up at 11am and plan to finish with a coffee by 1pm at the latest. Pass the word around. Full details per flyer and on our Facebook.
