Mayor Paddy McQuillan cheering on the participants in the St. Patrick's Day Parade.
The Mayor of Drogheda, Cllr. Paddy Mc Quillan, has thanked everyone involved in making the Patrick’s Day Parade in the town such a major success.
“Those of us that were lucky to be in Drogheda on 17th March were truly treated to the amazing spectacle that was the St Patrick’s Day Parade. And what a parade it was” Cllr Mc Quillan said.
“Tens of thousands of us watched on as the 70 plus entrants rolled by entertaining us for well over an hour. It was amazing.
“Events like this don’t just happen. A parade as big as this, (more entrants than Cork), happens because volunteers commit their time, dedication and man hours for the betterment of Drogheda. They deserve our credit.

Also deserving of our credit are the participants. It was incredible to see so many children participating in sport, dancing, athletics and so much more represented in the parade.
“Amazing work done by the organisations that support, train and nurture them. Also evident was the vibrant intercultural family orientated community we have.
“On a personal level, as Mayor of Drogheda, it was an absolute privilege to attend our St Patrick’s Day Parade. On behalf of myself and Deirdre we would like to thank the committee, the volunteers, the participants, and of course the people of Drogheda who came out in their thousands to enjoy the parade.
“What a great day for Drogheda!”
