Shocking fly-tipping at Baltray estuary condemned

Rubbish dumped in a ditch at Baltray recently.

It’s a scourge on this beautiful island of ours that some people, thankfully a minority, think that it is in any way acceptable or clever to dump their rubbish in the countryside - or in any other public place.

The latest incident of this disgusting activity locally has taken place at the scenic Baltray Estuary and has been roundly condemned by Independent Councillor Declan Power who expressed his outrage, calling it a disgraceful act of environmental vandalism.

“It is shocking to see such blatant disregard for one of our most beautiful natural areas. This fly-tipping is not only shameful but also a serious threat to our local environment,” he said.

Cllr. Power is urging the local community to report any incidents of illegal dumping and calling on authorities to take swift action to hold those responsible accountable.

“They have been numerous reports of similar incidents recently. The protection of our scenic and rural areas is a priority, and we must work together to prevent this kind of destruction,” he added.

For further information or to report illegal dumping, contact Louth County Council on 042-933 5457.
