Ace AC had a national Gold and Silver in the space of a few minutes medals at the All Ireland Indoor Championships held in Athlone at the weekend when firstly Lorcan Forde Dunne secured a brilliant Gold by only fractions of a second, in the Boys U18 1500M, to become the Irish Indoor Champion.

Due to high numbers, Lorcan ran in the second of two finals with medal winners based on time. Despite being out ahead and doing much of the work himself, he managed to keep a cool head and cross the line in 3.59.48 to win  his third National title having won last year's Indoor 1500m as well as a National Schools Gold Medal in 2024.

The excitement had yet to die down when Lorcan's training partner Shea O'Donnell secured a brilliant silver medal in the boys’ u19 1500m, missing out on gold by a few seconds.  Shea broke away with a group of 4 with 200m to go and fought his way into second place and silver with an impressive finish.

There were several more great Ace AC performances over the weekend including a sixth place finish in the u19 1500m from Eimear Cooney and a 5th place finish in the u13 Long Jump from Caoimhe Carolan who is proving herself to be one of the best up-and-coming young girls at Ace Ac.

Niall Murray also impressed on Saturday with another 2.02 finish in the u19 800m. It looks like a sub 2 minute 800m is just around the corner for Murray.
