The Love Drogheda Gift Card, Love Drogheda BID’s (business improvement district) shop local gift card programme, passed a significant milestone in 2024 with sales of €200k.

This success is not only a testament to the growing popularity of local shopping but also a reflection of the vital support from businesses like The Marcy Hotel/Nelly’s Drogheda, who made a key contribution by purchasing Love Drogheda Gift Cards Gift Cards for their staff as part of their Christmas rewards, both a gift and a commitment to supporting local businesses.

The Love Drogheda Gift Card programme encourages residents to shop locally by offering a convenient, prepaid gift card that can be redeemed at participating businesses within the community. Over 240 Drogheda businesses are currently taking part in the program, which comes at no additional cost to the businesses thanks to the Love Drogheda Gift Cards 0% commission rate and no sign-up fees.

Sherlock sisters support contributes to success

Valerie and Sabrina of The Marcy Hotel/Nelly’s Drogheda both influential business leaders in our community, made a conscious decision to purchase Love Drogheda Gift Cards for all their employees this festive season. This act not only supported the success of the Love Drogheda Gift Card programme but also aligned with their ongoing commitment to supporting local economies. By encouraging staff members to use the gift cards within the community, the gesture by The Marcy Hotel helps drive traffic to local stores and further contributes to the success of the gift card program.

We are proud to support the Love Drogheda Gift Card program again this year,” said Valerie Sherlock, co-owner of The Marcy/Nelly’s Drogheda “Local businesses are the heart of our community, and by giving our employees the opportunity to shop locally, we are directly contributing to the vitality and sustainability of Drogheda’s economy. A gift card that not only benefits the recipient but also supports local entrepreneurs is a win-win situation. We hope other businesses will consider this impactful way to give back during the Christmas period and beyond for all their staff rewards.”

“The support from businesses like The Marcy/Nelly’s Drogheda has been instrumental in helping the Love Drogheda Gift Card program achieve this milestone,” said Love Drogheda BID CEO, Trevor Connolly. “We are incredibly grateful for the backing of both corporate partners and individual members of the public who purchase a Love Drogheda Gift Card and who clearly believe in the importance of shopping local.  Every gift card purchased and then spent in Drogheda supports our local businesses and our town. I would also encourage those who receive a gift card, to use it when you receive it to avoid any fees that are incurred after 12 months”.
