Safety Upgrade: Council Confirms Filter Lane Outside Glenside Hotel by Year-End

Front Page

A new filter lane will be installed outside The Glenside Hotel on the old Dublin Road in Julianstown before the end of the year, as part of a Low-Cost Safety Scheme confirmed by Louth County Council.

The works follow concerns about the dangers of turning into the hotel from the Drogheda side, where the lack of a filter lane combined with high traffic speeds has created risks for motorists.

Local Councillor Stephen McKee said he had engaged with both the Council’s Area Engineer and hotel owners Karen and Aogán Dunne in recent months to press for a solution.

He welcomed the decision, noting that the new filter lane will improve safety for all road users while also supporting a long-standing local business.

The Glenside Hotel is regarded as an important landmark in the area, and the safety upgrade is expected to benefit both visitors to the venue and the wider community.
