Meath and Louth-based trainers and jockeys had a stellar week with wins across the country.

Harvey and McConnell Dominate Downpatrick and Bellewstown

Jockey Alex Harvey had a fantastic week, securing doubles at both Downpatrick and Bellewstown. At Downpatrick, he teamed up with trainer John McConnell to win with Camlin Park. Harvey followed up with another win on Our Zebo, beating McConnell’s own horse in the process.

The pair repeated their success at Bellewstown, with Harvey winning the first two races on Wednesday evening. He rode Long Gone to a win for trainer Declan Queally and then immediately followed up with a win on Jackson Lamb for John McConnell. This brought Harvey’s total wins for August to 14. McConnell completed his own double with Is She Real, ridden to victory by Ratoath amateur Lelia Byrne.

Elliott and Keane's Winning Streaks

Meath trainer Gordon Elliott also had a hugely successful week with a double at Downpatrick, thanks to wins from Penny Perfect and Speculatrix. He continued his winning streak with another double at Ballinrobe on Monday evening, with King Of Kingsfield and Blue Waters both securing comfortable victories. Elliott rounded off the week with another win at Down Royal on Friday evening with Coutach.

In the jockeys' title race, Meath's Colin Keane is intent on catching his rival. He rode a brilliant treble at Bellewstown on Tuesday, with wins on Touted Plan, Empress Artemis, and Escaping Thejungle. This brought his tally to 66 winners for the season, closing the gap on Dylan Browne McMonagle. However, a double for Browne McMonagle at Navan later in the week saw him extend his lead to 70 wins.
