Community historian Brendan Matthews will present four themed events as part of the upcoming Boyne Valley Trails September Festival.
The series will focus on the Drogheda Fenian/Irish Republican Brotherhood of the 1860s and its significant role in the movement.
The events are scheduled as follows:

Sunday, September 14th: A talk on the "Life & Times & Demise of John Boyle O`Reilly" at Dowth Graveyard, starting at 2.45 pm.

Tuesday, September 16th: A "Walk n Talk" starting at Scotch Hall at 11.15 am, focusing on the effects of the Great Famine in Drogheda and its role in the later "Fenian Conspiracy."

Thursday, September 18th: An evening talk at the Barbican Centre at 8 pm. This event will share the story of a young girl from Drogheda who became a key figure in the Fenian Conspiracy before emigrating to the United States and whose descendants established America's first Slavery Museum.

Sunday, September 21st: A final "Walk n Talk" starting outside St. Peter's Church on West Street at 11.30 am. This event will focus on the "Bold Fenian Men & Women" of Drogheda, detailing their identities, residences, and significant roles in the conspiracy across Ireland, England, Australia, and the United States.
