Stop the bombardment! Members of the Drogheda Stands with Palestine group and friends at the entrance to Oldbridge House on sunday morning.
Last Sunday morning, March 30th, several members of the Drogheda Stands With Palestine group and friends took a short but symbolic cycle along the banks of the Boyne to Oldbridge to show their support for a group of Gaza-based cyclists called The Gaza Sunbirds.
Since the Sunbirds team was formed in 2020 The Gaza Sunbirds have become a symbol of advocacy, for the innocent victims of the war in Gaza and two years ago they began distributing humanitarian aid by bicycle to displaced and injured civilians in Gaza.
Alan Kelly of Drogheda Stands With Palestine explained: "The Sunbirds are a group of para-cyclists based in Gaza who, through a community based initiative, have formed a network to distribute food and supplies to the area.

“The Gaza Strip is embroiled in a severe humanitarian and political crisis, compounded by the ongoing genocide. Gaza's infrastructure has been heavily damaged, with over half of its homes destroyed or damaged, and significant damage to commercial facilities, schools and hospitals.
“They do not bring aid into Gaza as the Israeli government continues to block foreign aid reaching the area. Instead, they source food from remaining farms, warehouses, and supermarkets and distribute them in areas where traditional aid organisations are no longer able to reach.
“In recognition of their efforts and in solidarity with the people of Palestine on what was a beautiful Sunday morning we took to the road to express our support. For more information or to make a donation see gazasunbirds.org
