Drogheda Rural Independent Councillor Declan Power has announced that, following extensive engagement with Louth County Council, the electronic speed-reducing signs at Monasterboice have now been repaired and reinstalled at a cost of €14,000.
The signs, located both northbound and southbound near the Monasterboice Inn, had been out of action for over 18 months in an area tragically known for traffic fatalities.
“This is a critical road safety measure that should never have taken so long to address,” Cllr. Power said.
“These signs serve as a vital reminder for drivers to slow down when approaching this high-risk area. Their restoration will undoubtedly help improve road safety for both motorists and pedestrians.”
Cllr. Power also extended his thanks to the staff of Louth County Council for their work in completing these essential repairs, ensuring that the road remains safer for all who use it.
