Ace AC members Chloe and Eimear Cooney are distant cousins and have both been selected to participate in the Irish Performance Pathway Squad training camp in Tullamore during the Easter school holidays.

The Irish Performance Pathway Programme supports the development of athletes between the ages of 16-20 who have the potential to become successful senior international athletes. The programme offers support to both the athletes, their coaches and their parents.

Irish performance pathway athletes are selected based on times and both girls secured the relevant 2025 qualification times, in the 2024 season. Chloe secured the time through an 800m time while Eimear gained hers in 1500m.

Both girls are students at The Sacred Heart School in Drogheda. Chloe is now 15 year old and competes at under 17 while Eimear is two years older competing in the under 19 age group.

The Cooney girls are both middle distance runners and are no strangers to Leinster titles and National medals. Eimear is the current Irish u18 1500m champion and has already represented Ireland on a few occasions, mainly at Cross Country.

Chloe is the u16 Leinster 1500m champion and is gradually returning to full training and competition after almost a year out with injury.
