Boyne Hockey’s Team Black win promotion in final against Glenane

Boyne Hockey Club’s sixth class (Team Black) who beat Glenane in the Leinster League final.

Having reached the finals through a nail-biting semi-final against Avoca last weekend, Boyne Hockey Club’s sixth class (Team Black) were up against Glenane for a Leinster League final at the Drogheda Grammar School grounds on Sunday.

Playing on home ground in blazing sunshine, everything looked good for the local team and before half time, Boyne were two-nil up.

However, switching sides after the break meant Glenane had the advantage for the second half but, although they managed to get a goal, it wasn’t enough to surpass the strength and determination of the Boyne girls.

A final score of 2-1 gives this sixth class a title win and division promotion for next season. Well done to all the girls and their committed coaches and rookies.

Anyone interested in learning to play hockey or developing their skills can book our annual Easter camp which takes place at Drogheda Grammar School from Mon 14 to Thurs 17 April daily from 10 – 2pm.
