An international project rolled out by Drogheda non-profit media organisation EurAV to help senior citizens navigate the murky waters of social media and online scammers, has been heralded as ‘Best Practice’ by the Italian national agency for the EU’s Erasmus Plus programme.

The accolade comes hot on the heels of EurAV being awarded the prestigious Media Literacy Ireland Award for the same project, DiSeRA.

“We’re delighted with the news,” said EurAV’s Executive Director, film maker Declan Cassidy. “It was one of the first projects that involved filming at our new studio on Fair Street, so it’s a positive indication of the quality that we can achieve there.”

EurAV is currently in the process of developing community media training at the studio with the plan of launching a local online community TV channel in the near future.

“We’re working closely with both local development and local business to make it happen,” said Declan.

“There’s a great community spirit in Drogheda, and the town has so much to offer. We were under a lot of pressure to set up our offices and studio in Dublin, but our whole team agreed that Drogheda was the place to be, and we haven’t had a single regret.”
