Brian Sherwin, a first time author who has just published his first book at the age of 79, has connections with Drogheda that go back all his life. His mother Kathleen Fullam, was a daughter of Jack Fullam who farmed at Staleen, Donore.
“I spent lots of childhood holidays in Staleen and visited Drogheda many times” Brian told Drogheda Life. “As an adult I had, and still have many relatives living in and around Drogheda and I have always enjoyed visiting the town on my trips to Ireland.
“I spent my first 27 years in Dublin where I qualified as an accountant. I left Ireland and moved to Devon in 1972 and had a career in pharmaceuticals.
I am now 79 and have just written my first novel.

'Autumn Career' is about an elderly widow living in Devon who is driven to avenge the death of two friends by killing a drug dealer in Taunton, Somerset. “Having successfully carried out a killing without being detected she is moved to kill again and again. She is motivated by a belief that the justice system in Britain is hopelessly lenient.
“She reads about a drugs baron in Ireland who was shot by the police and is recovering in hospital in Drogheda, so she makes a daring trip to Drogheda.
