The Board of Clann Mór, an HSE funded charity which provides residential and respite services to people in County Meath with intellectual disability, has announced the appointment of Drogheda man Joe Lynch as its new Chief Executive Officer.

Clann Mór has a strong ambition to partner with the HSE in continuing to grow its services in line with Government Policy.

Government recognises the increasing demand for residential and respite services nationally for people with intellectual disability and to meet its obligations under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities which it adopted in 2018.

Commenting on the appointment, the Board Chairperson Paul Quinn said; “I am delighted to welcome Joe to Clann Mór to build upon the great work of our retiring Director of Services, Martine Healy, and to drive our strategy forward.

Our staff do an amazing job in supporting our residents and respite users in living fulfilling independent lives to the greatest degree possible. They do this 24-hours per day 365 days every year. However securing funding to adequately support these services is a critical issue for Clann Mór and for many similar disability service providers.

We are hopeful that Government will deliver on its Programme for Government commitment to develop and fund a new National Disability Strategy. Joe’s experience in both national advocacy and delivery will be of great benefit to us in engaging the HSE, local TDs, businesses and the entire community to grow these much-needed services for the people of County Meath.”

Joe will join Clann Mór at the start of April. He has extensive experience in the Community and Voluntary Sector, having previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of Sunbeam House Services and of the Parkinson’s Association of Ireland, and as Chief Operating Officer of Camphill Communities of Ireland.

He also held senior management positions with a number of advocacy and representative bodies including the Irish Concrete Federation, the

Disability Federation of Ireland, Óglaigh Náisiúnta na hÉireann and PDFORRA. Joe started his career with the Irish Permanent Defence Forces where he served for 20 years at home and overseas.
