Boyne AC athletes made their presence was felt across the board at the Leinster Secondary Schools Cross Country Championship held in the Phoenix Park yesterday, February 12th.

Despite the overcast and cool conditions, punctuated by occasional blustery winds, the club’s athletes delivered performances to make their schools and the club proud.

First on the course was Eoin McEntee, representing St. Mary’s Diocesan School in the boys’ minor 2000m. Displaying grit and determination, Eoin crossed the line in 7:22, missing out on a medal by mere seconds. His competitive edge and strong run set the tone for what would be a day of stellar performances.

Jack Willis put in a magnificent showing in the junior boys’ 3000m, Clocking an impressive 11:41, Jack’s effort solidified his reputation as one to watch in the seasons ahead. Running alongside Eoin for St. Mary’s Diocesan, Jack’s race was a testament to both his natural talent and his relentless drive.

Seamus Keenan and Jack Garvey stepped up to the plate in the intermediate boys’ 4500m event each proving their immense potential. Both runners showed incredible determination and skill, delivering top-tier performances that helped secure a strong 6th place team finish for St. Mary’s Diocesan. Seamus demonstrated his growing strength and resilience, while Jack displayed a maturity in his running. Together, they formed a dynamic duo, showcasing the depth of talent Boyne AC has to offer.

Finally, in the girls’ 3000m, Ailish Keenan flew the flag high for both club and school. The sole female representative of Boyne AC on the day, Ailish delivered a commanding performance, completing the tough course in 14:10. Her resilience and talent shine as brightly as her dedication, marking another standout moment for the Keenan family and the Boyne club overall.

Boyne AC’s athletes, through sheer determination and class, proved once again that they are a force to be reckoned with. Today’s performances underscored the club’s strength and pride, leaving a lasting impression on the Leinster Cross Country scene.
