Councillor Declan Power at Chapel Road, Clogherhead.
Following years of campaigning Independent Councillor Declan Power has welcomed the news that Louth County Council is to install a pedestrian speed ramp at Chapel Road in Clogherhead.
Cllr Power, who has been advocating for this safety measure for several years, described it as a significant and positive development for the community.
“This is fantastic news for the people of Clogherhead, particularly for residents living along Chapel Road, where speeding has been a persistent issue,” said Cllr Power.
“Many residents have long been concerned about road safety, and this ramp will provide much-needed protection, especially for school children and senior citizens who need to cross safely.”

Cllr Power has been in ongoing discussions with Louth County Council about the issue and believes this measure will help mitigate speeding concerns. He has also proposed the installation of speed cushions outside the community hall to further reduce speed in the area.
“This is a step in the right direction and complements the upcoming Active Travel Safer Routes to Schools programme that is earmarked for Clogherhead in conjunction with Callystown NS,” he added.
