A delegation from Louth County Council, including Cathaoirleach Cllr Seán Kelly, Mayor of Drogheda Cllr Michelle Hall, and Chief Executive David Conway, visited the new Greenhill’s Grange age-friendly housing scheme in Drogheda yesterday, August 27th.
Upon completion, the development will provide 45 high-quality, two-bed bungalows and a five-bed assisted living bungalow for people aged 55 and over. The project is designed to help older residents live independently and actively within their community.
Construction on the project began in February and is now over 40% complete.
The contractors, Cunningham Contracts Ltd, informed the delegation that the development is on track to be finished by mid-2026.

"Greenhill’s Grange is a clear demonstration of our commitment to meeting the housing needs of today while also planning for the future," said Cllr Seán Kelly.
Mayor of Drogheda, Cllr Michelle Hall, commented that the development will provide "high quality homes" and give residents "the opportunity to set down roots which will strengthen the local community."
David Conway, Chief Executive of Louth County Council, highlighted that the development will promote "right-sizing," allowing older residents to move into more suitable homes while freeing up larger family homes for younger generations.
Declan Gaffney, National Technical Programme Manager with Age Friendly Ireland, also joined the visit.
He stressed the importance of age-friendly developments, stating, "Housing that supports ageing enables older people to enjoy more active, healthy, and socially connected lives, while preserving both their independence and dignity."
