There was a mass exodus of Ace AC athletes to Dublin on Saturday last with no fewer than 11 of them selected for the Leinster High Performance squads.
Stevie Wong, Shruiti Prasad, Chloe Cooney, Eimear Cooney, Sholah Laurence, Ciara O'Connor, Fergus Nolan, Rhys Clarke, Lorcan Forde Dunne, Danny Nugent and Shea O'Donnell travelled up to the famous Morton Stadium in Santry Dublin, to take part in the elite performance Leinster squad day.
To qualify athlete's needed to win a Leinster medal or at worst finish in a top 4 position.
The day kicked off in the class room with talks on various aspects of high level athletics like nutrition, sleep, training programmes, injury prevention etc. Then the athletes took to Santry Demense for a grass running session followed by a track session in Morton Stadium.

The Initiative is run by athletics Ireland as a stepping stone for international squads. Already this year Ace AC have had numerous athletes compete at international level with Lorcan Forde Dunne and Shea O'Donnell both qualifying for the biggest youth athletics championships in Europe,the European u18 Championships in Slovakia.
In what is a very exciting time for Irish athletics, Ace AC have become a major force in Ireland and, with their recent 11 acre training ground purchase, the future of Athletics looks very bright indeed.
