Reddans beachside pub and restaurant in Bettystown is set to put down the pints and pick up the coffee in support of Hospice for the 10th year, they are asking everyone to support this year’s Bewley’s Big Coffee Morning for Hospice.

This longstanding and much-loved national event, co-ordinated by Together for Hospice, takes place on September 26, and Reddans will host their coffee morning on that day from 10am – 12.30pm.

Marina Reddan, who lives on the premises, has applauded the local support over the years for the Reddans coffee mornings, which raise funds for the East Meath Hospice Association.

“The local support is astounding every year for this event, especially for the annual raffle,” said Marina.

“Everyone from the local hairdresser to the butcher and the supermarket supports the event, and between the chat and the community spirit, it is always a lovely morning.

“The advantage we have is that, because we are in the hospitality business, it is easy to do the tea and coffee. I always say to the team, we look after the scones, all you have to do is collect the money.”

Marina, originally from Dingle, Co Kerry, has praised the care that Hospice have provided in her family.

“My own father passed two years ago through Hospice, and I have an aunt who is a survivor.

“The staff made every effort to keep him feeling at ease, and when he passed, he was very happy and where he wanted to be.”

Together for Hospice, The National Hospice Movement, represents 24 Hospice and specialist palliative homecare providers supporting patients and their families across Ireland.

Funds raised locally stay local and go directly to each local Hospice service to innovate, build new facilities, develop new services and deliver quality improvements and extra benefits for their patients and their family members.
