Soprano Amie Dyer with david Leddy on keyboards are just part of the fantastic line-up this Saturday night, March 15th, at the St. Mary's Church fundraising event. Others taking part include the Drogheda Male Voice Choir and Uileann Piper, Darragh Ó’Héiligh.
St Mary’s Parish Church on James' Street in Drogheda has undergone major work on its roof restoration over the past few months. The scaffolding has been removed and the church, which was built in 1889, has been restored to its former condition to serve its parishioners as it has done down through the years.
The major fundraising drive was commenced by former Parish Priest, Fr Phil Gaffney and has continued under the present Parish Priest, Fr John Donlon.
It is one of Drogheda's finest churches with Victorian French Gothic architecture which complements its rose window, bell tower and intricate limestone carvings and is a focal point of the area.
Whilst the roof restoration has been completed, there still remains a residue debt for the parish to clear off for the work which was necessary. The latest fundraising event the parish will present, is a St Patrick’s weekend Traditional Concert on Saturday 15th March 2025 at 7.30pm in St Mary’s Church.

Musical Director of the Drogheda Male Voice Choir, Mr David Leddy, says; " We particularly like singing in St Mary's Church and the choir members are delighted to take part in this event for Fr John Donlon and the parish to alleviate the outstanding costs associated with the great work which was carried out. Also, it is always great to sing with the wonderful soprano, Amie Dyer, who has been inextricably linked with us for the past 12 years".
The full range of performers on the night will include well known Drogheda soprano, Amie Dyer with the Drogheda Male Voice Choir and local Uileann Piper, Darragh Ó’Héiligh.
Tickets are available in the Parish Office on James' Street & Holy Family Parish Office in Ballsgrove at the very reasonable price of €15. All funds will go towards the roof restoration.
