The second day of racing at Bellewstown gets underway at 4.40pm today with a claiming race for horses aged three and older before coming to a close at 8.07pm with a 0-60 rated handicap.

Up first on the Bellewstown card is a seven-furlong claiming race for horses aged three and upwards (4.40). Casanova is taken a very significant drop in grade in this race for the Ado McGuinness yard so despite some unspectacular results, may well relish this big drop down. Nezeeh looks competitive on form despite a below-par eighth last time out at Cork but was a winner back in May so if bouncing back can rate the main danger.

A field of 14 will head to the start for the seven furlong maiden contest at 5.15 as the two-year-old’s take centre stage. Allsortz makes a marked step up in trip and was a promising fourth in a Fairyhouse maiden three weeks ago so could prove to be a tough nut to crack for trainer David Marnane. Powerhouse trainer Aidan O’Brien can never be discounted and he has the promising World Tour entered here, third in a Down Royal maiden a fortnight back so holds obvious claims for a top yard.

Race three of the afternoon is another big field contest as 15 runners will head to post for a seven furlong handicap (5.49). Eutropia is sent handicapping for the first time by trainer Kevin Coleman and is open to improvement so should certainly go better than a ninth last time out at Fairyhouse. Daonethatgotaway is the chief threat, one win from two runs this year on the all-weather at Dundalk and has been off for 112 days so could be a big player back on grass if living up to that form.

Ten runners will take on the maiden contest over the sharp five furlongs for race four (6.22) and trainer Jessica Harrington holds a good hand with Turners Cross, still a maiden after seven runs but has found a good opportunity in an ordinary contest here to get off the mark, while race five (6.57) can head the way of Hero Of The Hour, a huge 13lb below his last winning mark so has to be given a chance here to get back to some form after a very ordinary time of it recently.

A field of nine will take on the mile and a half fillies maiden, the penultimate race on the day at Bellewstown (7.32), and it's very hard to look past Gifted on debut for the all-conquering Aidan O’Brien yard, a Wootton Bassett filly and a half-sister to smark winner Espionage so on paper, it’s all there for her to get off the mark at the first time of asking.

Finally, day two of racing comes to a close at 8.07 as 15 runners tackle the mile and a half 0-60 rated handicap, with preference in the finale heading the way of Tassarolo for trainer Dennis Hogan, a winner of an 18-runner novice at Clonmel 28 days ago and with few miles on the clock, should improve for his success last time out over hurdles.
