The Siena nuns made a rare excursion into Drogheda yesterday morning to visit the groundbreaking Saint Oliver Plunkett exhibition at the Drogheda Civic Offices in Fair Street.

The brave Siena nuns were custodians of Saint Oliver's head for almost two hundred years, through very troubled times, before it was transferred to St. Peter's Church in West Street in 1920 following Oliver's beatification.

The well-informed nuns from the Siena Monastery enjoyed an hour long tour and asked some very interesting questions.

The rib relic of Saint Oliver and other reliquaries, including the original ebony box housing for the head, proved  very popular artefacts for the 1500+ visitors who attended the exhibition.
