The Laytown Races Colouring Competition, in partnership with Scoil an Spioraid Naoimh, was officially launched on Tuesday with a special visit from renowned racing personality Ruby Walsh.
Ruby was warmly welcomed by both pupils and teachers, and the excitement was clear as he spoke to the children about his journey in horse racing. He shared stories from his time as a champion jockey, his transition to broadcasting, and his current role as Chairman of the Irish Injured Jockeys Fund. The students were eager to ask questions, making for a fun and engaging afternoon filled with curiosity and laughter.
As part of the launch, this year’s official colouring picture—specially created by the acclaimed racing caricaturist Birdie—was presented to the school. Birdie’s continued support of Laytown Races is greatly appreciated, and this year’s drawing is sure to inspire creativity among the young artists.
