Kerry O'Brien who is to have her hair shaved off on the 6th of September in aid of NECRET.

This September is a very important month for Drogheda woman Kerry O Brien, it marks a decade since she was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, a milestone that she says fills her with immense gratitude and a renewed zest for life.

“Every year, I seek meaningful ways to give back and celebrate the precious gift of life” Kerry told Drogheda Life and this September she’ll be joining a remarkable group of women for this year's “Dip in the Nip” in support of NECRET.

“This event has become a cherished tradition for me, growing in significance and participation each year” Kerry said.

Because this year is her 10-year cancer anniversary, Kerry wanted to do something truly special so, as well as taking part in the “Dip in the Nip”, she has decided to shave off her beautiful hair.

Brave Kerry has made an appointment in The Green Man Barbers on Peter Street, Drogheda on the 6th of September at 5pm when she will have her head shaved.

Kerry says the support she has received throughout her cancer journey has been nothing short of extraordinary.

“I am deeply grateful for every bit of encouragement I have received” she said and has appealed for as many people as possible to support her in her attempts to raise as much money as possible for the North East Cancer Research Education Trust (NECRET) which raises funds for the Oncology and Haematology units at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital .
