Over 160 Ladybirds aged 5-7 and Brownies aged 7-10 from all over the North East Region enjoyed a fun filled day in Blackgrove, Fordstown Co. Meath (between Kellsand Athboy), organised by members of the young leaders from Senior Branch aged 14 plus.
The event was overseen by Region Commissioner Annamarie Lawlor and included bouncy castles, craft, target games, physical and mentally challenging activities and a barbeque.
Everyone enjoyed a much-appreciated ice-cream before they went home.
The Senior Branch camped Friday and Saturday nights, and worked tirelessly for the whole weekend, smiling and singing and entertaining the younger members of Irish Girl Guides, in spite of the intense heat!

In the evenings the older girls enjoyed playing bingo, a campfire, cooking traditional ‘smores’ and were treated to a take-away by their Leaders.
The daytime visitors included volunteer Ladybird and Brownie Leaders and Parent helpers. One Parent was very impressed with the set up and said how relaxing and safe the day felt, the adults enjoyed the chats in the sun and the barbeque and the picnic too.
Irish Girl Guides is an all-female volunteer youth organisation which runs September through to June. If you would like to get involved as a volunteer Leader or sign up your young person www.irishgirlguides.ie
