Water outages expected in Drogheda South tomorrow and Thursday

Front Page

Uisce Éireann has issued a warning of water outages on the South side of Drogheda from 10.00pm to 4.00am tomorrow Wednesday 14 August and Thursday 15 August to facilitate ongoing essential watermains replacement works.

The areas affected include: Platin Road, Wheaton Hall, Lagavoreen, Bryanstown, Stameen and Newtown, Drogheda and surrounding areas. Up to 2,000 customers may be impacted by water interruptions and low pressure.

In a statement issued today, Uisce Éireann said: “Every effort will be made to limit the impact of these essential works and we would like to thank the community in advance for their patience and co-operation.

“Following the completion of the works, please allow time for water pressure to return to normal. It can take 2-3 hours for the normal water supply to return as water refills the network.

“These works will be carried out under Uisce Éireann’s national Leakage Reduction Programme, which helps provide a more reliable water supply to Irish communities by reducing high levels of leakage and improving water quality. Since 2018 more than €500 million has been invested in the programme and the upgrading of the underground network across the country.

“Uisce Éireann is also investing a further €250 million annually up to the end of 2030 directed at fixing leaks and replacing pipes to provide a more reliable water supply. Vulnerable customers who have registered with Uisce Éireann receive direct communications from us for planned and unplanned outages lasting more than four hours.”

Uisce Éireann’s customer care team is available to help 24/7 on 1800 278 278 and customers can also contact us on Twitter @IWCare with any queries. For further updates, visit the service and supply section of www.water.ie
