Network Ireland Louth members attending the organisation’s June event in the Marcy Hotel were treated to tips and tricks on “Showing up on Video” which was energetically delivered by Helena Mullins.
Helena who is a roving reporter for LMFM, and a hospitality manager in the family business, Glen Gat House in Dundalk, offered members practical insights drawn from her extensive on-camera experience and media expertise.
Her advice to those nervous of video was “just do it”. She also emphasized that with platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok readily available, the key is identifying which platform best aligns with your product or service, then consistently showing up with your ideal client in mind.
Her practical guidance focused on building sustainable video habits, advising members to establish consistency first, then invest in quality equipment like microphones as their confidence grows.

Throughout the session, Helena stressed the critical importance of lighting, sharing professional techniques that can transform amateur videos into polished, engaging content.
Pearls of wisdom were also learned from member, Joanne Lavelle, of Michael Lavelle Estate Agents, who uses video to help show potential clients the houses they have for sale, and they have gained over 8,000 YouTube subscribers. Another network member, Denise Horan, helps businesses grow and make more sales using social media, gave advice and tips on making the most of videos and social media posts as she said it is important to “get visible”.
The members present asked questions, discussed ideas and shared kernels of knowledge with each other. Those that came with little knowledge, left with lots, and those that came with lots of knowledge, helped others to learn proving, as Helena said: “a rising tide lifts all boats”.
