At the Louth Cross-Country Championships held in Bellurgan Park on Sunday, Boyne AC once again proved its strength, resilience, and proud legacy.

The course, scenic but challenging, tested every athlete’s mettle as relentless rain soaked the ground. But, true to character, the Boyne AC's athletes showed up undeterred by the elements, battling not just the competition but the deepening mud and biting wind with unmatched determination.

The day began with the Under 10 races, where the future stars of Boyne AC took their place on the starting line. Millie Bell, Stella Gow, Conor Hughes, and Maisie Fay ran brilliantly, giving everything they had despite the harsh conditions. Rasmus Fangeru also ran superbly, showing great promise for the club’s future.

Special recognition went to Beyla Stone who, in her first-ever race performed incredibly well despite the challenging conditions, earning a well-deserved round of applause from the team. In the U12 category, Will Gow and Caitlin Hughes delivered stellar performances, with Caitlin finishing an impressive 8th place, showing that the club's younger ranks are packed with emerging talent.

As the age groups moved up, so too did the intensity. In the U14 3000m race, Aaron McMahon, Joe Bell, and Ciaran Garvey ran superbly, all putting in determined performances that exemplified Boyne AC’s strong commitment to cross-country. Riley Byrne 5th place finish was a particular highlight, adding yet another proud moment to the club's day.

The U16 boys, led by Seamus Keenan, ran with fierce pride. Keenan earned a well-deserved silver medal in a hotly contested race, reflecting the depth of talent within Boyne AC. Jack Willis fought through the mud-soaked terrain with an incredible effort, while Shauna Rice added to the day’s successes by securing a silver medal in the girls' U16 4000m race.

But it was Jack Garvey, the club’s junior captain, who truly embodied the spirit of Boyne AC. Fresh from representing Ireland in a mountain cross-country race just a few weeks earlier, Garvey displayed the leadership and tenacity that has made him a role model for the younger athletes.

His victory in the U18 4000m was nothing short of spectacular, adding yet another gold to his growing collection after an impressive win at the Newtown Stalaban Pre-Louths just 7days earlier. Emmett McShane also delivered a strong performance, taking 3rd place in the U18 race and helping to elevate the team's success.

The celebrations didn’t end there. Boyne AC’s strength in depth was clear as the club’s U16 boys, led by Jack Garvey, Emmet McShane, Seamus Keenan, and Jack Willis, secured the team gold with a commanding performance. Not to be outdone, the U14 boys, including Aaron McMahon, Riley Byrne, Ciaran Garvey, and Joe Bell, put on a brilliant team effort to claim silver.

While the youngest athletes in the U10 categories narrowly missed out on team medals, their 4th-place finish showcased a depth of talent that promises future success. Every Boyne AC athlete, from the youngest to the oldest, left everything on the course, embodying the club's unwavering pride and commitment to excellence.

As the rain continued to fall and the day came to an end, the Boyne AC community stood together, celebrating not just the medals and victories but the heart, grit, and passion of their athletes. Bellurgan Park may have been tough, but the spirit of Boyne AC shone even brighter.
