Louth County Council has initiated a public consultation as part of its 2025 Speed Limit Review, focusing on all public roads within towns, villages, and settlements where the current speed limit is 60km/h or lower.
This review has been carried out in accordance with the Department of Transport’s 2015 Guidelines and subsequent amendments. As a result, a number of changes to urban speed limits have been proposed, including the introduction of new 30km/h zones in several areas. These changes aim to enhance road safety and improve the overall environment for residents and road users.
To support public engagement, a two-week non-statutory consultation will run from Tuesday, 22nd July to Tuesday, 5th August 2025. During this period, the draft proposals will be available for public inspection during office hours and can also be viewed online on the Louth County Council website.
Members of the public are invited to attend a series of drop-in events being held across the county. The first event will take place on Monday, 28th July at the Ardee Civic Offices on Fair Green in Ardee, from 4pm to 7pm. The second event will be held on Tuesday, 29th July at the Drogheda Civic Offices on Fair Street, also from 4pm to 7pm. The final event will take place on Wednesday, 30th July at County Hall in the Millennium Centre, Dundalk, from 4pm to 7pm.
