Drogheda United face Crumlin United at Sullivan and Lambe Park on Friday evening in the Second Round of the 2025 Sports Direct Men’s FAI Cup.
The Boynesiders last played a fortnight ago, beating Galway United 1-0 at home on July 4. Dare Kareem’s finish five minutes into the second half, on his first league start for the club, earned all three points.
Kevin Doherty’s side go into the competition this season as the current holders. The 2024 competition saw Drogheda beat Dundalk 2-1, Wilton United 9-0, Athlone Town 4-1, and Wexford 3-2 before beating Derry City 2-0 in the final in the Aviva Stadium in November.
In team news, Paul Doyle and Elicha Ahui are ruled out through injury, while Warren Davis is doubtful. Josh Thomas, James Bolger and George Cooper are all available, having recovered from injury.

Drogheda and Crumlin last played in the EA Sports Cup in 2014. On that day, Kevin Dempsey gave Crumlin a first half lead, with Gary O'Neill scoring late on to send the game to extra-time. Goals in extra-time from Paul Andrews and current assistant manager Daire Doyle saw Drogheda win 3-1.
