The founder and current editor of Drogheda Life, Andy Spearman, has confused a lot of people by announcing his retirement at least twice over the last couple of years but he swears that his latest announcement is final – definitely!
Last week a contract was signed with Katie Kierans, whose family are well known in business and media circles in Drogheda, who will be taking over control in the coming days after a short handover period.

Speaking on the occasion of his retirement, Andy Spearman said that, after almost 14 years at the helm of Drogheda Life, he was delighted to be standing down and getting on with the other 1001 things he wants to do in life.
“I was a bit of a rebel at school, all I ever wanted to do was to leave and get on with my life. Over half a century later I’m feeling that way again and am itching to do some travelling. My wife Jenny and I are planning a journey around Europe by rail and I’m sure that will lead to many adventures.
"I wish Katie the very best of luck as I hand my baby over into her care but, from the discussions we have had, I am confident that she has the skillsets and, more importantly, the energy and enthuiasm necessary to bring Drogheda Life to the next level and beyond."
